Relief from Chicago: theWHOevers

Greg Reynoso Journalist

Chicago is home to many great things, great food, great music and great people. With never ending talent pouring out from the City of Chicago, it’s difficult to spotlight it all. Luckily, theWHOevers have been in the playlist for a few years now, sounding greater than ever. DotKom and J. Arthur, the masterful duo of theWHOevers, have been at it since 2011 and haven’t slowed down one bit. Creating a sound so unique, you have to listen for yourself to appreciate all that they bring. A few favorites from theWHOevers include throwbacks: BBQ (Bump That), How I DoNeed Somebody and J. Arthurs’ Single Sunset (Doin’ It).

“Staying true to Hip-Hop roots, they offer relief from the noise that’s polluting the airwaves these days.”

R U DOWN – EP, 2016.

Staying true to Hip-Hop roots, they offer relief from the noise that’s polluting the airwaves these days. Listen in, and you’ll be taken on a soulful journey through our favorite rhythms of the early Nineties, pass through hints of old-timey jazz, finishing through with new age modernism. Check out our feature of their track, titled Penny Pinchin’  at the top of the page to experience an uplifting vibe of house and soul roots.
